You gave us slow moments, big memories, and so many little “marmalade jar moments” we’ll keep forever.

✨ My sister came to visit us for a whole week.
🐢 Leevi spent almost four weeks looking after our friend’s tortoises as his little summer job.
🎉 We discovered a new hobby.
🤍 Sleepovers for Leevi meant date nights for us.
🌅 Sunset swims whenever I didn’t have a photoshoot.
📸 Leevi is officially in photographer training. 🤪
🎂 I celebrated another birthday, and I couldn’t feel more grateful.
☀️ Beautiful adventures with our closest friends.
🎨 Even during the holidays, creativity never takes a break.
✈️ Before Leevi left for Germany to spend time with his dad, we enjoyed some precious family quality time together.
🍉 We embraced everything summer has to offer.
🌿 I’m slowly finding my balance again.
🚗 A work trip to the south turned into another little adventure with an overnight stay together.

July wasn’t perfect, but it was full of life, love, growth, laughter, and gratitude.

One of the reasons why I chose Greece 🇬🇷 to live abroad was I wanted a slower life.

I always admired about Greece—even as a child—was how people seemed to truly live.

The grandfathers sitting outside their homes playing tavli.
Someone taking their time to read the newspaper.
Long afternoons by the sea.
Conversations that didn’t seem rushed.

Of course, I know people here work incredibly hard too, and I’m not trying to romanticize life in Greece.

But there has always been something about the way many people embrace the present moment that fascinated me.

As a single mom running my own business, my mind has always been on the next task, the next deadline, the next thing I “should” be doing.

I thought moving here would automatically make me slower.

The truth?

I’m celebrating two years in Greece now, and I still catch myself struggling to switch off.

Even on quiet days.
Even when my son is spending time with his dad.
Even when there’s finally nothing urgent to do.

My brain still whispers:
“You should be working.”
“You should be productive.”

Maybe that’s what healing a nervous system actually looks like.

Not waking up one day completely calm.
But choosing, over and over again, to practice slowing down.

I’m not there yet.

But every little piece of Greek life I allow myself to embrace feels like a small step closer.

And maybe that’s enough for now. 🤍

Two years ago, my son and I moved to Crete🇬🇷 to build a new life. His dad still lives in Germany.

Our beginning wasn’t easy, and navigating co-parenting across two countries has been a journey for all of us. But today, we’ve found a rhythm that works. More importantly, we’ve reached a place of acceptance. Seeing my son grow up healthy, happy, confident, and surrounded by nature reminds us every day why I made this decision.

Living in Greece also means something many people don’t think about: school holidays are the only time he can spend longer periods with his dad. That means Easter, Christmas, and especially the summer holidays… which, in Greece, last around 12 weeks.

Over the past two years, we’ve figured out a routine. Most summers, I fly with him to Germany, spend a few days with my family and friends, and then his dad brings him back to Crete at the end of the holidays. It makes the travel easier for everyone, and most importantly, it gives them uninterrupted time together.

People often say, “Enjoy the time without your child.”

And I do… in some ways.

It’s lovely to have more spontaneous evenings, more time with my partner, and to focus on myself for a little while without constantly planning around holiday entertainment, meals, or bedtime.

But I also think every parent understands that you never stop being a parent just because your child is somewhere else.

The house feels quieter. Your routines suddenly disappear. You wonder how they’re doing, even when you know they’re having the best time. And when contact is limited so they can fully enjoy their time together, that can be surprisingly hard as a mum.

It always takes me a few days to adjust. To remember what life looks like when I’m not in “mum mode” 24/7.

And then, before you know it, the weeks are over.

He comes home full of stories, new memories, and little pieces of the summer he shared with his dad. And I’m reminded that while these goodbyes are never easy, they’re also filled with love.

Co-parenting across countries isn’t always simple.

But when everyone puts the child first, it can become something beautiful. 🤍
